It's not the destination it's the Journey

It's the Martin and Maeve get married issue. Jim is determined to make another epic fail, trying to get his wife back. Catherine tolerates his attempts. Why Catherine, WHY? Ryan as usual is living her life full out - why do 3 things when you can 7 at the same time? Mia and Jordan would like to be the 2G Jamie & Ryan.
Love the way Journeys starts out - Jamie & Ryan Reunion - Mia & Jordan reunion - HUGE family and friend Birthday party for Ryan, and Jamie giving Ryan the perfect birthday gift that she always wanted since grade school - score!
I can honestly say the dialogue this author writes for this couple is absolutely adorable and perfect. Never over the top or unbelievable - when you are reading this story it's like you are a participant.
I can still remember vividly finding this series many years ago on line. The series had been going strong for 5 years and I started in the middle. I loved the characters and enjoyed the writing and humor and passion and zest for life so much I have re-read the series 12 times now in the last seven years. This is the 10th book in the "I Found My Heart in San Francisco" series about two bright and happy college students who fall in love and begin a life together.
Jaime and Ryan O'Flaherty live in Jaime's house that they share with Jamie's BFF from High School Mia, near the UC Berkeley campus.
Jaime's mother (think Grace Kelly in `To Catch a Thief') continues to make up for 20 years of reserved emotion to her beloved daughter by her being a total rock for her daughter in many ways maily by whole heartedly supporting Jamie in her independence and love for Ryan. Jaime had always been a daddy's girl and her mother, having no emotional role model herself, became isolated emotionally and physically more and more as the years went on.
Jamie's father (think Mitt Romney/John Edwards) continues to treat his beloved daughter like a possession that he just can't accept is growing up and making her own life independent from his picture of how she should be. He disagrees with who she loves solely by Ryan's gender and perhaps her working class background (Ryan herself is perfection, a genius and just the nicest most attractive person you will ever meet). He makes one bozo mistake after another treating Ryan as if she were a corporate raider and Jamie the corporation. The guy can't help himself, he is given a world of opportunities and nothing is ever good enough, he has blown every chance at happiness for the last 20 years.
In addition you will love Ryan's extended family as well as Jamie & Ryan's close circle of friends.
Now that you are totally hooked after reading `Journeys' go and get Awakenings, Beginnings, Coalescence, Disclosures, Entwined, Fidelity, Getaway, Honesty, Intentions, Journeys again, Karma, Lifeline and the upcoming Monogamy, Nurture, Osmosis, Paradigm & Quandary - woot!
