The Global paperback is almost like the hardback.

I got the global paperback version with the birds on it. It is mostly like US hardback edition except the questions in the back of the chapter is different. What I do is borrow a friends book, scan the questions with my phone, and then I'm all good to go with homework. If you can do that you'll save some money.

A textbook I actually enjoyed reading

As far as accounting textbooks are concerned, I'd put Arens at the top of the heap. Unlike many other authors who are more interested in impressing you with their $50 SAT prep vocabulary, Arens is actually interested in getting the point across without bogging you down with details that aren't going to help you for the CPA anyway. However, one major difference between this version and the most current one is that this one lacks some critical statistical tables when it comes to MUS sampling (no ARIA tables), and there is a lack of explanation regarding how to calculate sampling interval in that chapter as well. Still, these are things that aren't too terribly hard to obtain if you don't want to splurge on the newer editions (which, as far as I'm concerned, is pretty pricey for a few additional fancy figures and flow charts). Despite this, it's still a rock-solid textbook which is written clearly, concisely, and competently.

Edit: Wow. I cannot believe how unbelievably harsh other reviewers are about this textbook. Hard to understand and wordy? You all must not do a lot of reading, especially of other accounting textbooks (which are notoriously ridiculous). Stick to McGraw-Hill if you want to be spoon-fed scant details and high gloss pictures which have nothing to do with the text. If you actually have an interest in passing the CPA exam, you'll find Arens does a fine job of compiling information about a subject most lay people find confusing and provides problem work which lets you know pretty quickly whether or not you've solidified your understanding.

It's not the destination it's the Journey

It's the Martin and Maeve get married issue. Jim is determined to make another epic fail, trying to get his wife back. Catherine tolerates his attempts. Why Catherine, WHY? Ryan as usual is living her life full out - why do 3 things when you can 7 at the same time? Mia and Jordan would like to be the 2G Jamie & Ryan.

Love the way Journeys starts out - Jamie & Ryan Reunion - Mia & Jordan reunion - HUGE family and friend Birthday party for Ryan, and Jamie giving Ryan the perfect birthday gift that she always wanted since grade school - score!

I can honestly say the dialogue this author writes for this couple is absolutely adorable and perfect. Never over the top or unbelievable - when you are reading this story it's like you are a participant.

I can still remember vividly finding this series many years ago on line. The series had been going strong for 5 years and I started in the middle. I loved the characters and enjoyed the writing and humor and passion and zest for life so much I have re-read the series 12 times now in the last seven years. This is the 10th book in the "I Found My Heart in San Francisco" series about two bright and happy college students who fall in love and begin a life together.

Jaime and Ryan O'Flaherty live in Jaime's house that they share with Jamie's BFF from High School Mia, near the UC Berkeley campus.

Jaime's mother (think Grace Kelly in `To Catch a Thief') continues to make up for 20 years of reserved emotion to her beloved daughter by her being a total rock for her daughter in many ways maily by whole heartedly supporting Jamie in her independence and love for Ryan. Jaime had always been a daddy's girl and her mother, having no emotional role model herself, became isolated emotionally and physically more and more as the years went on.

Jamie's father (think Mitt Romney/John Edwards) continues to treat his beloved daughter like a possession that he just can't accept is growing up and making her own life independent from his picture of how she should be. He disagrees with who she loves solely by Ryan's gender and perhaps her working class background (Ryan herself is perfection, a genius and just the nicest most attractive person you will ever meet). He makes one bozo mistake after another treating Ryan as if she were a corporate raider and Jamie the corporation. The guy can't help himself, he is given a world of opportunities and nothing is ever good enough, he has blown every chance at happiness for the last 20 years.

In addition you will love Ryan's extended family as well as Jamie & Ryan's close circle of friends.

I Bought the record back in the early 80s, then the CD, and this year the live DVD, I have listened to and loved this album for 30 years, It will always remain a favourite and now I can hack away on the guitar with the help of this TAB book. Its a further tribute to the musical and poetic genius of Black Sabbath and their collaboration with the vocally gifted Ronnie James Dio. This music is a gift! R.I.P Ronnie.

The Subtle Impact of Color and Shape

This book is a gem to be treasured by all elementary teachers for their Art library. Molly Bang demonstrates the use color and shape to inspire creativity and emotions in the minds of young students. I had the privlege of attending her demonstration lecture some years ago at a Children's Literature Conference. There I was delighted to discover the subtle simplicity of her ideas; I even put them into practice with my preschool class. This book will open a new world of enjoyment and enrichment activities--especially in the study of fairy tales--while introducing basic artistic principles. I highly recommend it!

Back to the basics

This book captured the essence of teaching art. She drew us into the realm of red riding hood with her step-by-step construction. It took awhile before I realised that I was learning in a fun way. The author had constructed an easy to read book, sharing her observation as well as her knowledge of colours, shapes and space. I really like the fact that her concept is simple to understand, takes a meticulous effort to implement and probably a lifetime to truly master.

Basic Guide

I purchased this book to supplement a MOOC course of Introduction to Philosophy. I found it useful to read as each lecture progressed. However, I feel that the study guides at the end of each chapter would have been more beneficial if answers were included in the back of the book. This would enable the reader to check his/her understanding.

Would recommend to anyone taking a MOOC class in Introduction to Philosophy.

This book was purchased to accompany the online class from Coursera "Introduction to Philosophy" - it stands on its own as an interesting read which review many important topics as they are viewed from a Philosophical perspective. And for the class it was a perfect companion guide as it takes the reader beyond the lectures and into the deeper meanings of things as each chapter is written by the various professors who teach the course. A great little book that covers a lot of ground, and does so in an interesting manner.
