Basic Guide

I purchased this book to supplement a MOOC course of Introduction to Philosophy. I found it useful to read as each lecture progressed. However, I feel that the study guides at the end of each chapter would have been more beneficial if answers were included in the back of the book. This would enable the reader to check his/her understanding.

Would recommend to anyone taking a MOOC class in Introduction to Philosophy.

This book was purchased to accompany the online class from Coursera "Introduction to Philosophy" - it stands on its own as an interesting read which review many important topics as they are viewed from a Philosophical perspective. And for the class it was a perfect companion guide as it takes the reader beyond the lectures and into the deeper meanings of things as each chapter is written by the various professors who teach the course. A great little book that covers a lot of ground, and does so in an interesting manner.

A lovingly told vivid memoir of a colorful family.

Jerre Mangione's writing is so vivid that reading it brought back my childhood years in the 20's and 30's. His Mt Allegro (NY) was my Silver Lake (NJ). His parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, neighbors were mine with similar names. His family gatherings were mine, too. In this land of immigrants, each era has its own stories of growing up in America. Mangione tells his with the greatest affection, bitter-sweet nostalgia, and tender humor. Recently,I gave a copy of Mt Allegro to my Aunt Angie for her 87th birthday. She plans to pass it along to her older sisters.

I've just bought this book and what I can say. It's AWESOME. I am learning hypnosis and this book is excellent. I have other books but as a beginner learn more from this- so easy to understand- It's the perfect book for everyone who want to learn about hypnosis. I can now hypnotize someone after reading this book- wow worth every penny. Highly recommend. Thank yo very much Richard for this great book.

Great Book!

I have this book, and would recommend it to anyone. Richard explain the history behind hypnosis, all the way up to it's current day uses. As a hypnotist myself, I use this book as my "hypnosis bible. " I find myself going back and reading this book, and picking up new tips or ideas all the time. If you are a hypnotist, or are just interested in hypnosis, this is a must read.

Excellent Book But Beware of Titles with "Introduction"

My old chemistry teacher, Mr. MacDonald, once said, "Beware of Textbooks with introduction in the title." He was right. This text was a thoroughly enjoyable read, though sometimes I was over my head. With that said, and I abhore technocrats spouting terminology, it was an excellent text with thorough explanations of risk factor calculations; I bought this book to accompany Mark Tweeddale's "Managing Risk and Reliability of Process Plants." This book is a must-have for those involved in reliability, i.e., process engineers, reliability engineers, and safety engineers.
